Nail Challenge - Sweets

I have joined a nail art challenge group on facebook She who does nail art and the first challenge was sweets, the first thing that popped into my head were peppermint swirls as it was something I've wanted to do before so I though perfect! I changed the colours so there not so christmassy to pink and so I could use my pink Barry M nail art pen plus a darker pink 2 in 1 nail art pen I got from eBay.

A challenge it definitely was phew! I did find them pretty tough especially on my right hand, still need the most practice with left hand work.

I used 2 coats of Barry M white as my base then planted a pink dot in the middle as my starting point and drew out the light pink swirls and coloured them in, when they were dry (very fast drying time) I did the same with the dark pink pen. I added 2 coats of Barry M Pink Iridescent as it's a good cover over to mask any wobbliness and mess hehe then planted a rhinestone in the centre and I have to say as hard as they were I am proud of them, they were a challenge but they are good to me :)

Braided Nail Art with Barry M Nail Art Pens

Today's post is a some nail art I spend a good time doing, I haven't done a lot of nail art but lines and dots and what better opportunity than with Barry M's new Nail pens? I went to Superdrugs and got the white, pink and black on 3 for 2, I love them so much I might get another black and white with the silver to make sure I always have plenty, no telling how long they'll last ;)

They are really easy to use basically like a sharpie pen, first of all you need to give them a good shake and pump down on the nib till the paint flows, you'll see it seeping through and it will look just like a coloured permanent marker. Much easier than the 2 way pens all over eBay I found for sure, a lot easier to grip and draw with just make sure the base is completely dry or the nib will drag through the polish!

Here is what I accomplished, I used Barry M Greenberry as my base colour then used the white to create the whole braid on my nails and filled the parts in alternatively with pink and the white leaving some green. I have to say I'm impressed, my right hand is no where near as good, not dreadful just not great, still need a lot of left hand practice :3

Barry M Foil Tape Art

I haven't really been doing much art these days and I really wanted to do something with what I have, I'm determined to get some Acrylic paints to do proper art as I hear there much better than using your polishes.
I decided to do some tape art using my Barry M foils silver and gold. I've had this idea for a while and just never got around to it.

So here it is, 1 good coat of gold foil on each nail and silver on my ring finger. I love using these foils, they are beautiful, they apply great and one coat is all you need. I used a roll of nail striping tape to make all the stripe patterns and painted over in the contrasting foil, peeled the tape away and voila!

Sinful Colors Cinderella and Flocking Powder

This new polish I picked up yesterday was so hard to get good pictures of, I need to upgrade my camera from my cheap one lol

Anyway as I'm sure most of your UK girlies that have headed to Boots knows they have recently started stocking Sinful Colors instore for £1.99 each and currently they are on 3 for 2 offer. Who could pass that up? Not me that's for sure.

I grabbed Cinderella when I saw it sat there, it has been a wishlist of mine since last year but Sinful aren't readily available here and Cinderella less so. I also picked up Rich in Heart (up next time) for it's dark vampiric like qaulity, favourites of mine the vampy the better and also Kissy which is sort of like a mermaids tails, green, blue and gold as Hottie which I originally wanted was sold out. That display had been attacked lol

I also added something new to my manicure I just got yesterday. Flocking Powder! I've seen this around and have been dying to try it, I've added it as an accent nail as I only have tiny tubs I wasn't sure would get through a full mani.

Well less of my talking and onto the pictures!! Cinderella is 3 coats, it's a sheer nail polish, a beautiful pale blue with pink glass like flecks running through (sadly not noticeable from my camera)

Barry M Zebra Nail Art

Not my best attempt at nail art today, I hope to move over to acrylic paints rather than use nail polish which is harder to get neater and opaque but never mind I quite like it. I did today an attempt at zebra lines or tiger lines lol over Barry M Berry Ice Cream, that is a beautiful colour.

Berry Ice Cream is a soft lilac and is opaque within two coats, it applies well and is non streaky. I used a black nail pen paint and a thin brush to create the lines and finished it off with a coat of Barry M pink Iridescent to give it a cute sparkly finish.

See my photos below: :3

Christmas snowflakes

Again with Christmas! I don't have to introduce Barry M retro red again, it is a great Christmas red polish, and has been well used for the coming holiday.

I teamed it up with a pack of cute stickers I bought from eBay with various snowflakes and bows, I then added plain rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes and a green in the center of the bows.

A quick and simple idea but I'd say very Christmas looking :3

Christmas Lattice Design

Todays Christmas design was inspired by from thepolishaholic quilted design and used in the 2 obvious Christmas colours, red and green!!

I am very pleased with how this came out, far from perfect, I've not such work with striping tape and I had a few difficulties but it came out quite well in the end.

My green is my beloved Catrice King of Greens, which I adore. 2 good coats with perfect application.
The red as you can see Barry M Retro Red, a nice thick coating to cover over the green.
Little 1.5mm rhinestones to give it some Christmas bling.

Picture overload below :3

Christmas - Candy Canes

Today is the start of 2 weeks of Christmas themed nails starting with the super cute candy canes theme.

For a rare occasion I have pictures of both my right and let hand. For once it is my right hand that actually came out better than my left.

For my base I used Barry M Retro Red, and a super shiny red it is. It is great application and a one coater!
I used a white striper pen to make the candy cane stripes, simple and effective. The glitter is Mavala Pure Diamond.

Picture overload below!

Left hand.

Right hand.

I am really impressed with my right hand stripes compared to my left, the right hand normally looks like the dogs dinner lol

Ghoulish Ghosts with Barry M

Well they're more friendly type than scary type lol but I am very happy with how my ghost manicure turned out. I didn't want a black base so I scoured my stash for a different dark base and came up with Barry M Indigo, I used 2 coats of this for opaqueness and layered 1 coat of Barry M Amethyst over the top. The ghosts I used Barry M white and a medium sized dotting tool and Barry M black and a nail art brush for the spooky little faces.

I am especially fond of my middle finger and the peeking ghosts, I find them rather cute :3

I am just loving Halloween and the excuse to create these spooky manicures.
